Loretta Musgrave

Loretta Musgrave is a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), affiliated with the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the Faculty of Health. She also contributes to the Women & Children’s Health Research Collaborative (WCHC). With 25 years of clinical and educational experience, she holds a PhD from the University of Sydney (Medicine), focusing on pregnancy planning and mobile health applications.

Education:

• Master in Education (Adult Education) (UTS, 2011–2013)
• Diploma of Project Management (UTS, 2014)

Research Interests: Her work centers on maternal and child health, particularly leveraging mobile health (mHealth) technologies to improve pregnancy outcomes. Key areas include preconception care, culturally inclusive healthcare practices, and midwifery education. She has conducted systematic reviews on genomic education for midwives and perinatal grief management.

Teaching & Leadership: She has reaccredited midwifery programs at UTS, including the Graduate Diploma in Midwifery and Bachelor of Midwifery. She pioneered telehealth simulation resources for midwifery students and contributed to the NSW Office for Preventative Health’s 'Get Healthy in Pregnancy' app.

Key Collaborations: Her research has involved partnerships with the Sydney Local Health District, South Western Aboriginal Medical Service, and the Charles Perkins Centre’s BABY1000 project.
