Annie Hepworth is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and a PhD Candidate with IMPACCT (Improving Palliative, Aged and Chronic Care through Clinical Research and Translation) in the Faculty of Health. She holds affiliations with the UTS Ageing Research Collaborative (UARC) and contributes to nursing education and clinical research.
Her research focuses on ageing, cognitive impairment, nursing workforce development, and preventing delirium in hospitalized older adults. She coordinates key nursing courses such as Nursing Care of the Older Person and leads Transition to Professional Practice, the final subject in UTS’s Bachelor of Nursing program. Additionally, she serves as the Academic Liaison Officer, supporting student well-being and academic progression.
Annie’s clinical background includes roles as a Dementia and Delirium Clinical Nurse Consultant, Nurse Unit Manager, and Educator in NSW public health sectors, which inform her academic leadership. Her current PhD aims to strengthen nursing’s role in delirium prevention among vulnerable older adults.
Her 2024 publication in Geriatric Nursing explores music therapy’s impact on mental health and cognitive function in dementia patients, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to geriatric care.
