Sjors Overman is an Assistant Professor at the Utrecht School of Governance, focusing on public accountability, emotions, and semi-autonomous agencies. He also serves as Managing Director of the Netherlands Institute of Governance (NIG), coordinating doctoral education and financial affairs.

Research interests include behavioral aspects of accountability, public sector reforms, and measurement scales in survey research. His work explores how individuals perceive accountability relationships and how institutional structures shape these dynamics.
Publications span journals like Public Management Review, Administration & Society, and Electronic Journal of e-Government, with recent studies on felt accountability, populist pressures, and conflictual accountability.
Scientific awards include the prestigious NWO Veni Grant (€250,000) for his project on emotional effects of accountability.
Teaching includes methods and statistics, policy analysis at bachelor’s and research master’s levels, and supervision of MA theses.
