Simon Polinder

Dr. Simon Polinder is a postdoctoral researcher at Utrecht University's Department of History and Art History, specializing in the role of religion in international relations. His work focuses on religious narratives in conflict dynamics, CVE strategies, and the intersection of faith with security. Associated with the JISRA project, he examines religion's role in Nigeria, Kenya, and Indonesia. He holds a PhD from the University of Groningen and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with research on Christian political realism and Kuyperian thought. Polinder has taught at the University of Groningen and Christian University of Applied Sciences Ede, supervising master's theses. His awards include the 2024 E-International Relations Article Award and an ISA best dissertation mention. He contributes to policy initiatives via roles at the Religious Freedom Institute and the CDA’s Scientific Institute.
