Shufan Huo, MD/PhD, is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Neurology at Yale University, working under the Falcone Lab. She holds a dual degree from Charité - University Medicine Berlin, where she also completed neurology residency with a focus on neurocritical care and stroke. Previously, she served as a Visiting Scientist at University Hospital Zurich, developing AI-driven tools for neurocritical care monitoring. Her research integrates genetic epidemiology, genomic medicine, and machine learning to study cerebrovascular disease mechanisms and clinical trajectories in neurocritical care settings.
Education: MD/PhD (Summa Cum Laude, Charité Berlin), MD (University of Heidelberg), Neurology Residency (Charité Berlin). Key areas of expertise include stroke epidemiology, genetic variation impacts on brain health, and algorithmic analysis of clinical data streams. She has pioneered machine learning models for artifact detection in intracranial pressure monitoring and developed the Brain Care Score for early brain health assessment.
Research emphasizes translational applications of big data analytics in neurology, with recent work linking clonal hematopoiesis to stroke outcomes and exploring anti-NMDA receptor antibodies' role in post-stroke depression. Her lab contributes to longitudinal cohort studies (PROSCIS-B) and biomarker discovery efforts in cerebrovascular disorders.
Notable achievement: ESO 2018 Young Investigator Award. Active collaborations include work with Kevin Sheth (Yale), Guido Falcone, and international teams on neurocritical care innovations and genomic medicine applications. Her lab's FalconeLab website showcases ongoing projects in precision neurology and AI-driven clinical tools.
