معرفی
Dr. Shu Yang is a Senior Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University's Macquarie Medical School, affiliated with the Motor Neuron Disease Research Centre. She leads the neuropathology and cell biology team within the MND gene discovery program. Her research focuses on unraveling the molecular and cellular basis of Motor Neuron Disease (MND) through studying gene mutations and proteinopathies.
Education: PhD in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology from the University of Queensland (2010). Postdoctoral training at the ANZAC Research Institute, University of Sydney. Awarded the Bill Gole Fellowship from MND Research Australia.
Research Interests: Functional validation of MND-linked genes (e.g., TARDBP, OPTN, C9orf72), neuropathological analysis of MND proteins, and mitochondrial-based therapeutic strategies. Current projects include investigating extracellular vesicles in MND pathogenesis and CHCHD10-induced TDP-43 mitochondria entry.
Teaching: Co-convenor of MEDI2301-Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience, guest lecturer in MEDI3200-Translational Biology and Genomics.
Grants and Projects: Active projects include MNDRA24 (EVs in MND) and MQRIS Large 2023 (Nano-flow Cytometry Facility).
Labs/Teams: Head of the neuropathology and cell biology team, part of Macquarie's MND Research Centre.
