Sherry L Wynn Perdue serves as Special Lecturer and Director of the Writing Center within Oakland University's Department of Writing and Rhetoric, while also functioning as an AP English Language and Composition Consultant.
Her academic credentials include:
- Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Oakland University
- M.A. in English/American Studies from Michigan State University
- Additional training at the School of Criticism and Theory (Dartmouth College)
Dr. Wynn's research examines genre awareness in dissertation supervision, evidence-based writing center practices, dissertation writer support, information literacy frameworks, and undergraduate research mentorship. Her scholarly contributions appear in The Writing Center Journal, Education Libraries, Journal of Academic Librarianship, and Perspectives in Undergraduate Research and Mentoring, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement across composition studies and academic literacy development.
She has held significant editorial positions including Co-editor of The Peer Review, Managing Editor of The Oakland Journal, and Editor of Re-Visions: Journal of the Women's Studies Program at Michigan State University and The Oil Pipeline Monitor.
Dr. Wynn actively mentors undergraduate researchers, presents at academic conferences, and operates WriteSpace—a professional editing, ghostwriting, and consulting business. Her current creative project involves composing the memoir Married on a Monday—7 ½ Years Later—and Other Quirky Tales of an Academic Storyteller.
