Sheila McManus is a Professor of History at the University of Lethbridge's Faculty of Arts & Science, specializing in borderlands studies and teaching methodology. She joined the Department of History in 2003 and was awarded the University of Lethbridge's Distinguished Teaching Award in 2018 for her innovative, student-centered pedagogy.

Her research examines the borderlands of the North American West through lenses of race, gender, and sexuality, while also contributing to scholarship on teaching and learning in higher education. Recent publications include Both Sides Now (2022) and co-edited Challenging Borders (2025).
McManus's work spans frontier history, settler-colonial narratives, and transnational frameworks. She explores cinematic representations of colonialism in Cinematic Settlers (2020) and challenges traditional historiography in projects like Transnationalizing US History (forthcoming 2025).
