Sheila Feay-Shaw is a Professor and Music Education Area Head at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Music Department. She joined the faculty in 2008 and specializes in world music pedagogy, cultural consciousness in education, and elementary general music. Her expertise spans over 15 years of K-12 teaching experience in Milwaukee, Seattle, and Tukwila.

Research interests include integrating global musical traditions into education, cultural authenticity in teaching practices, and historical perspectives of marginalized musical cultures. She has authored influential reports for NAfME, edited Oxford University Press' Global Music Series volumes on Egypt and America, and published in journals like Bulletin for the Council of Research in Music Education and Journal of Historical Research in Music Education.
Her awards include the 2022 Outstanding Creative Research Award and 2012 WMEA Michael G. George Service Award. She has led research groups for WMEA and NAfME's Social Sciences division, emphasizing applied research in music education policy.
Teaching experience includes 10 years in Milwaukee Public Schools and 5 years in Washington state, focusing on elementary general music programs. She advocates for culturally responsive pedagogy and has presented at international conferences in Scotland, Norway, and Canada.
