Dr. Pritchard's research centers on Italian sculpture and painting from 1550-1650, with dual expertise in Giambologna's international sculptural influence and Caravaggio's revolutionary painting practices. She investigates how Counter-Reformation ideologies transformed artistic production, analyzes the theoretical paragone debate, and examines Caravaggio's techniques including print usage. Current projects specifically explore Caravaggio's depictions of aging and illness, his self-portraiture, and Giambologna's reception across European aristocratic courts.
As Co-Director of Visual Cultures, she shapes program direction while maintaining an active teaching schedule across the art history curriculum. Her courses demonstrate integration of historical scholarship with methodological training, particularly in upper-division seminars on Baroque Europe and Renaissance court cultures.
