Shani Collins-Achille is a Professor of Dance at Connecticut College, where she has been teaching since 2009 and currently serves as Department Chair. She plays a pivotal leadership role in shaping dance education and curriculum at the institution.

Professor Collins-Achille specializes in dance theory and composition, West African dance and folklore, somatic practices, and dance history. Professor Collins-Achille has mentored numerous dance students throughout her tenure. In 2019 and 2023, she led student groups to Ghana for study and performance opportunities. She founded Eternal Works Inc, an organization dedicated to fostering women's healing empowerment and facilitating cross-cultural dialogue through dance. As Department Chair, she organized the Dayton Artist-in-Residence Program focused on 'Igniting Emancipatory Possibilities through African Diaspora Dance,' addressing challenges of teaching African Diaspora dance at predominantly white institutions.
Her professional career includes performances with Urban Bush Women and Ronald K. Brown/Evidence, choreography for Urban Bush Women's Community 'Dixwell' Project, and guest appearances with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, The National Dance Company of Mozambique, and David Dorfman Dance Company. Her work has been presented at prestigious venues including Jacob's Pillow, Bates Dance Festival, and internationally in Mexico and Senegal.
