Ian Berg is a Boston-based tap dancer and adjunct professor at Emerson College, Endicott College, and Boston University, teaching tap dance practice and history while serving as guest lecturer at Tufts University. Director of the tap dance company Subject:Matter since 2015, he performs nationally at venues including Jacob's Pillow, Mass MoCA, and New York City's Joe's Pub.

Research Interests: Berg's work centers on Tap Dance as a percussive art form, integrating Contemporary Dance techniques and original Music Composition. His Choreography explores rhythmic complexity within Dance History frameworks, emphasizing improvisation and cross-disciplinary collaboration between movement and sound.

As founder of Subject:Matter, he directs ensemble performances at institutions including Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Gibney Dance Center, with projects funded through Next Steps and Choreography Fellowships enabling national touring.
