Shanequa Roscoe

Shanequa Roscoe is a part-time Lecturer in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), within the School of Health Professions. She holds a Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from UAB (2017) and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Berea College (2014). Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, her academic roles include associate scientist at UAB's Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education (COERE) since 2024.

Her research focuses on clinical laboratory science, healthcare communication, and health equity. She explores how provider empathy and patient-centered communication interact temporally in U.S. healthcare systems, emphasizing cultural tailoring in diabetes self-management education. Her work also addresses bacterial resistance to antibiotics and healthcare simulation training.

Notable awards include Article of the Year (2025), Top Presenters (2024), and Best PhD Abstract (2023). She has peer-reviewed for the Journal of Patient Experience and participated in EURAM and AcademyHealth conferences.

As an educator, she teaches graduate courses in hematology, molecular diagnostics, clinical chemistry, and infectious diseases at UAB. Her professional memberships include EURAM, Academy of Management, and AcademyHealth.
