Erin Blanchard

Erin Blanchard is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Services Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), School of Health Professions. She holds additional roles as an Associate Scientist at UAB’s Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) and Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education (COERE). Her expertise spans healthcare simulation, medical quality, and interprofessional team training. Blanchard teaches in Simulation and Healthcare Quality and Safety programs, emphasizing debriefing techniques, standardized patient education, and telehealth implementation.

Blanchard earned a BSN from Mississippi University for Women (2009), an MSN and MS in Health Systems Administration from UAB (2016), and a PhD in Health Education/Health Promotion from UAB (2021). She is a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer and holds certifications in Healthcare Simulation and Medical Quality.

Her research focuses on simulation-based education, telehealth outcomes, and improving cultural competency in care delivery. Key projects include the Family Anesthesia Experience wellness program and the Marble Falls Hospital tabletop simulation. Blanchard’s work bridges education, clinical practice, and healthcare innovation, addressing topics like malignant hyperthermia training and transgender patient care protocols.

Her awards include certifications from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and the American Board of Medical Quality. She collaborates across UAB’s School of Medicine and Anesthesiology departments, contributing to interdisciplinary training initiatives.
