Ashleigh Allgood

Ashleigh Allgood is a Lecturer in the Department of Health Services Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in quality improvement, project management, healthcare strategy, and Lean Six Sigma. Her research focuses on trust in healthcare systems, medical sociology, and the integration of simulation and quality improvement methodologies. Currently pursuing a PhD in Medical Sociology, her work explores the social construct of trust and its impact on team performance and patient safety.

Research Interests:

Ms. Allgood’s research examines the intersection of trust and healthcare, healthcare simulation, process improvement, and social determinants of health. She has conducted studies on clinical trial participation barriers, vaccine hesitancy in rural Alabama, and AI-driven decision support systems for diabetes management.

• Mentored capstone projects for students like Mitchell Tillman, Jamie Wade, and Anita Samaniego-Avellana
• Developed courses such as HCM450 (Quality Management in Healthcare) and HCS640 (Project Management)
• Designed innovative educational tools like the Marble Falls Hospital tabletop simulation
