Cathleen Erwin is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Political Science at Auburn University's College of Liberal Arts. She holds a PhD in Health Services Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, an MBA from Auburn University Montgomery, and a BA in Theatre from Auburn University. Prior to joining Auburn in 2010, she spent over 25 years in healthcare administration, development, and communications roles.

Her research focuses on strategic management in healthcare organizations, including board governance, organizational development, and quality management. She has published extensively on topics such as hospital governance diversity, fundraising practices, and team dynamics in healthcare settings.
Recent publications include analyses of hospital governing board diversity and its impacts (2023), textbooks on healthcare management (2023), and studies on fundraising strategies in NCI-designated cancer centers (2013-2018). Her work addresses critical challenges in healthcare finance, digital communication, and operational efficiency.
