Shana Gleeson, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases) at Yale School of Medicine, affiliated with the Yale Center for Infectious Disease. Her clinical practice focuses on managing infections in transplant recipients and immunocompromised patients. She is also deeply involved in medical education and diversity, equity, and antiracism initiatives within healthcare. Dr. Gleeson holds board certifications in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease, and she serves on multiple committees including the Yale School of Medicine Diversity Committee and the Infectious Diseases Diversity, Equity, and Antiracism (ID2EA) Committee as Treasurer.
Education & Training: She earned her MD from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine (2012), completed internal medicine residency at Brown University (2015), and an infectious diseases fellowship at Yale School of Medicine (2019). She is a Clinical Fellow at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Research Interests: Her work emphasizes equitable healthcare access and education for immunocompromised patients. She collaborates with organizations like the American Society of Transplantation (AST) to create patient resources and advocates for systemic DEI reforms. Her publications include groundbreaking efforts to integrate antiracism into infectious disease training curricula.
Grants & Advising: As part of her 2023 Educational Scholarship Grant recognition, she led development of the ID2EA curriculum. She mentors future physicians through residency/fellowship programs and clinical teaching roles. Her professional service includes roles in Graduate Medical Education and Yale's COVID-19 treatment response.
