Dr. Shammyla Naeem is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Glasgow's Department of Accounting & Finance, joining in August 2013. She earned her PhD in Finance under the University of Glasgow Postgraduate Scholarship and Overseas Research Student Awards Scheme (ORSAS), alongside two distinguished master's degrees: an MS (Research) and an MBA specializing in finance. Her teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate levels, covering corporate finance, international financial management, financial risk management, and accounting.

Shammyla's research focuses on empirical corporate finance, credit ratings, corporate governance, risk disclosure, and Islamic finance. Her current work explores peer firms’ credit rating changes and their impact on corporate financing and investment decisions, with recent publications in the European Journal of Finance.
She has contributed to academic discourse through presentations at conferences such as the Financial Management Association (2016) and BAFA Scottish Area Group (2015). Her scientific accolades include prestigious national and international scholarships for higher education, notably the University of Glasgow Postgraduate Scholarship and ORSAS.
Shammyla supervises PhD students and holds leadership roles such as PGT Convenor for Finance programs and Deputy Assessment Officer. She previously taught at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and Pakistani universities, and served on the School Ethics Review Panel (2013–2016) and Learning & Teaching Committee.
