Shabnam Salehi serves as a Visiting Professor at the University of Ottawa, affiliated with the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs within the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on human rights issues with specific emphasis on Afghanistan's rights situation and human rights within immigration contexts.
Her research expertise spans critical human rights domains:

Prior to her current position, Dr. Salehi led the women's rights mandate at the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission, designing comprehensive programs addressing systemic gender-based violations. She has extensive teaching experience in public policy, law, and political science at Kabul University, coupled with curriculum development contributions across social science disciplines.
