Secil Hulya Danakol is a Lecturer at the Aston Business School's Centre for Business Prosperity, specializing in Economics and International Business. She holds a PhD in Economics from Utrecht University (2015), an MSc in International Economics and Business from the University of Groningen (2009), and a BSc in Business Administration from Ege University (2007).
Her research focuses on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Entrepreneurship, Productivity, and Innovation. She explores how FDI impacts wage dynamics, competition, and new firm entry, as well as the interplay between M&A activities and domestic entrepreneurship.
Her recent work includes studies on FDI channels and their economic effects, published in Small Business Economics. She also contributed to a policy report for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs on FDI and entrepreneurship. Dr. Danakol teaches courses like Entrepreneurial Management and Research Methods for Business, and supervises research projects in the Executive MBA program.
