Roles and Affiliations: Tomasz Mickiewicz is a Professor of Economics at Aston University's Aston Business School, part of the Centre for Business Prosperity. He previously held positions at University College London (UCL) and has extensive experience in academia, public administration, and business consulting. His research focuses on entrepreneurship, institutional economics, and regional development.
Education: MA (1984) and PhD (1988) in Economics from the Catholic University of Lublin, Poland. Habilitation in Economics (2008) from Marie Curie-Sklodowska University.
Research Interests: Dr. Mickiewicz’s work examines the interplay between institutions, entrepreneurship, and economic growth. Key themes include entrepreneurial ecosystems, informal/formal economies, governance, and transition economies. He has contributed to understanding how cultural practices, social capital, and policy frameworks influence business creation and performance, particularly in post-communist and emerging markets.
