Seáron Thornton is a Lecturer at Robert Gordon University's School of Creative and Cultural Business. Her roles include teaching marketing communications, events management, and consumer behavior to students in tourism, hospitality, and fashion management programs. She serves as Head of Year for Stage 2 BA (Hons) International Tourism Management and International Hospitality Management courses, and coordinates modules such as Integrated Marketing Communications and Visitor Experience Management.
Education: Holds a BA (Hons) in Media from Dublin City University (DCU) and an MSc in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs from RGU. Currently pursuing a PhD titled 'The Lure of Lovely: The effect of the aesthetic appraisal of digital fashion images on social media.'
Research Interests: Focus on fashion psychology, visual digital culture, and pedagogical approaches for neuro-divergent learners. Explores topics like digital participatory culture and the impact of visual media on consumer behavior.
Industry Experience: Over 15 years in oil and gas marketing, including establishing marketing departments for three Aberdeen-based companies and managing mergers/acquisitions. Previously served as RGU’s Marketing Manager for six schools and led marcomms at the National Subsea Centre.
Teaching & Advising: Supervises undergraduate/postgraduate research students and advocates for inclusive education practices. Engages in curriculum development for creative management courses.
