Dr. Sean Lyons is a Professor and Associate Dean of Research & Graduate Studies at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, University of Guelph. His research focuses on inter-generational dynamics, workplace management, and career development, with particular emphasis on generational differences impacting workplace dynamics and career sustainability.
Education: PhD Management (Sprott School of Business, Carleton University, 2004); MA Public Policy and Administration (Carleton University, 1998); BPA (University of Windsor, 1995).
Research interests include career sustainability, generational identity, work values measurement, and career exploration strategies. His work has been featured in high-impact outlets like Sustainability, Journal of Intergenerational Relationships, and Personnel Assessment and Decisions.
Key awards include the Gender and Diversity in Organization Best Paper Award (2009 and 2010) and the 2014 HR Division Best Paper Award. He has secured SSHRC grants (e.g., 2025 study on graduate student mental health and 2008 generational career patterns study).
Collaborations include private and public sector organizations addressing inter-generational workplace challenges. His research informs policies on workforce management, career resilience, and cross-generational conflict resolution.
