Scott M. Gordon, PhD is an Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine with appointments in the Physiology Department, Saha Cardiovascular Research Center, and Nutritional Sciences Graduate Program. His research focuses on metabolism and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through two primary investigative pathways.
His laboratory investigates mechanisms regulating dietary fat absorption by the intestine, including genes controlling chylomicron secretion and how fat absorption influences body weight, metabolism, and atherosclerosis. The second major research focus examines inflammatory protease activity in the artery wall and its suppression by lipoproteins, exploring natural inflammatory regulation mechanisms involving lipoproteins and developing lipoprotein-targeting protease inhibitors.
Analysis of his 15 most recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on HDL proteomics, cardiovascular risk prediction, and therapeutic interventions for atherosclerosis.
