Scott Haverly serves as a Lecturer in Construction Technology at the University of Salford's School of Science, Engineering & Environment, where he delivers modules for Real Estate, Building Surveying, and Development programs. With over 30 years of property and development experience—including private practice since 2006—he integrates substantial industry expertise into his academic role while maintaining active membership in the Built and Human Environments Research Centre.
His educational foundation includes studies at the College of Estate Management and a Postgraduate Certificate in higher education, enabling effective knowledge transfer between industry and academia.
Haverly's research focuses on three interconnected domains:
- Building Pathology: Systematic investigation of building defects, deterioration mechanisms, and structural failures
- Retro-fit: Technical and logistical challenges in upgrading existing building stock for energy efficiency and functionality
- Socio-economics: Analysis of social dynamics and economic factors shaping property development and urban environments
As a Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer, he maintains dual professional affiliations with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), ensuring his teaching reflects current industry standards.
