Nick Evans is a Senior Lecturer in Architectural Design and Technology at Cardiff School of Art & Design, Cardiff Metropolitan University. With over 25 years of combined industry and academic experience, he brings substantial practical knowledge to his teaching and research roles.
His primary research and teaching interests include:
- Building Regulations
- Environmental Design
- Architectural Technology
- Building Control
- Sustainable Built Environment
Mr. Evans previously served as a Local Authority Building Control Surveyor before joining Cardiff Metropolitan University (then UWIC) in 1990. At the university, he established the undergraduate programme in Architectural Technology and continues to shape curriculum development in this field.
He maintains strong professional connections and is frequently invited to speak at events organized by RICS, CIAT, CIOB, and RSAW. Mr. Evans also provides specialized training for Building Control Surveyors, Estates Officers, Home Inspectors, and Domestic Energy Assessors, demonstrating his ongoing engagement with industry practice.
Academically, he is a member of the Ecological Design for the Built Environment Research Strand within the Welsh Institute for Research in Art and Design, contributing to research efforts focused on sustainable building practices and environmental design.
