Fiona Stoddard is a Lecturer in Real Estate at the Business School, University of Aberdeen. She holds a MA (Hons) and Postgraduate Diploma, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII) and a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). She has over 30 years of professional experience in insurance and real estate, having worked for 18 years as a Commercial Real Estate Valuer in Leeds before joining academia. She currently serves as Director of Student Experience in the Business School and is an elected member of the University Senate, as well as serving on the Quality Assurance and Estates Committees.
Her research and teaching interests focus on bridging academic theory with professional practice in real estate. She is deeply committed to the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) through RICS, serving as an Assessor, Chairperson, Auditor, and accredited trainer. She actively fosters industry engagement by bringing professionals into the classroom for presentations, site visits, and field trips. Her work emphasizes sustainability, ethics, and the long-term impact of surveyors on the built environment.
Fiona Stoddard has been appointed as Principal Assessor (UK & I) – Valuation by RICS, one of only ten globally, highlighting her leadership in professional assessment policy and training. She mentors both current students and alumni through MATRICS events to support their journey toward becoming Chartered Surveyors.
