Scott Greenspan is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Education at Tufts University's School of Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD in School Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and has completed postdoctoral work at Harvard Medical School/Judge Baker Children’s Center and The Home for Little Wanderers. His research focuses on school-based mental health systems, physical activity promotion, and support for LGBTQIA+ youth. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences, with notable work on inclusive education practices and intersectional identity considerations in school settings.
Dr. Greenspan’s educational background includes a B.A. and M.S. from the University of Massachusetts Boston, followed by doctoral studies at UMass Amherst. His professional experience spans clinical roles in schools, clinics, and community programs across Massachusetts, emphasizing evidence-based interventions and psychoeducational assessments.
His teaching activities include courses on counseling approaches, school psychology research methods, and behavioral supports in educational settings. He currently teaches 'Advanced Approaches to Counseling,' 'Common Factors in Counseling,' and 'Practicum in Counseling and School Psychology,' among others.
Research interests include multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), PBIS consultation frameworks, and the integration of physical activity into mental health interventions. He has pioneered work on LGBTQ+ youth inclusion in school athletics and psychological well-being among gender-diverse populations.
Dr. Greenspan’s professional service includes contributions to the design of affirming school environments and professional development programs for educators. He maintains an active clinical practice alongside his academic roles, emphasizing practical applications of research findings in real-world settings.
