Dr. Mark Benander is an Associate Professor of Practice and Online Program Coordinator for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Merrimack College. Previously, he served as Program Director and full-time faculty in graduate psychology programs at Bay Path University. With 37 years of clinical experience across inpatient, outpatient, crisis, and consultation settings, and 25 years of teaching (including 12+ years in online education), his expertise spans counseling psychology and psychopharmacology.

His research focuses on medical psychology, trauma (including international refugee trauma recovery), autism, depression, and relationship counseling. He holds a mastery certificate from Harvard in international refugee trauma recovery and is a licensed psychologist (LMHC) in Massachusetts.
Dr. Benander’s professional roles include directing graduate programs in counseling psychology, advancing graduate teaching methodologies, and applying psychopharmacological knowledge to mental health diagnosis and treatment.
