Sarfraz A. Mian is a Professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at the School of Business, part of the State University of New York at Oswego. He holds the distinction of being a SUNY Distinguished Professor, the highest academic rank in the State University of New York system. His expertise spans entrepreneurship ecosystems, business incubation, and innovation policy, with a global focus on how universities and institutions support technology-based startups.
Education: Mian earned his MS in Industrial Engineering & Management Sciences from Northwestern University, and MBA and PhD in Business Administration from George Washington University. He also holds BS and MS degrees in Physics and Chemical/Energy Engineering from Punjab University.
Research: Pioneering work includes defining the role of entrepreneurial universities in fostering innovation ecosystems through business incubators and accelerators. His research has been recognized as globally impactful, ranking him among the most influential scholars in technology business incubation.
