Sarah Katz is a Clinical Professor of Law at Temple University's Beasley School of Law and a Senior Fellow with the Stoneleigh Foundation. She directs the Family Justice Clinic, advocating for families impacted by state intervention in child welfare cases. Her expertise spans family law, clinical legal education, and anti-racist advocacy. Katz holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School (2003) and a B.A. from Columbia University (1997).
Her research focuses on family policing abolition, trauma-informed legal practices, and systemic reforms in child welfare. She previously served as a supervising attorney at Community Legal Services and adjunct professor at Temple/UPenn Law Schools. Professional roles include Vice-Chair of Pennsylvania's Juvenile Court Rules Committee and leadership in the Philadelphia Bar Association's Family Law Section.
Publications emphasize centering family voices, reforming child welfare systems, and integrating trauma-informed approaches into legal education.
