Sarah Jones is a Reader in Pharmacology at the University of Wolverhampton's Molecular Pharmacology Research Group, Faculty of Science and Engineering. Her work spans 20+ years of pioneering research in Cell Penetrating Peptides (CPPs) and bioportides, focusing on intracellular target modulation for therapeutic development.
- Developed bioportides as tools for targeting protein-protein interactions in sperm physiology and Parkinson's disease
- Co-inventor of STOPSPERM bioportide technology for male contraception
- Collaborated on European patents for glioma-targeted drug delivery vectors
Her research has been highlighted in BBC Horizon and Channel 4 documentaries. Current projects include optimizing bioportides for clinical applications with grants from BBSRC, Wellcome Trust, and Male Contraceptive Initiative.
Scientific Awards
- Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (2017)
Professional Leadership
- Organized 3 international conferences on CPPs and peptide therapeutics
- Member of European Peptide Society's Scientific Affairs Committee
Sarah's teaching includes module leadership in 'Principles of Drug Action' and 'Advanced Therapeutics' at the School of Pharmacy, mentoring over 60 undergraduate and Masters students.
