Sarah Jackson is a poet, curator, and critic serving as Vice Chancellor’s Fellow in Creative and Cultural Industries at Northumbria University. Her interdisciplinary work bridges writing, art, and technology to address social and environmental justice. She holds a PhD and has held roles including AHRC Leadership Fellow and founding director of Critical Poetics (2015–2024).
Her research focuses on ecopoetics, displacement, and innovative listening practices. Key works include Pelt (Seamus Heaney Prize winner), Tactile Poetics, and co-edited volumes like Bunker: Stories and Poems from a Nuclear Age. She has also produced impactful creative projects such as the film Calling Across Borders and the sound installation Voice Notes.
Scientific recognition includes BBC New Generation Thinker, NTU VC Outstanding Researcher, and shortlisting for the Research in Film Awards. Jackson supervises doctoral candidates in poetry, sound studies, and environmental humanities, fostering interdisciplinary inquiry at Northumbria.
