Anna Robinson is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Media, Fashion & Communications at the School of Arts and Creative Industries, University of East London. She is a published poet, playwright, and non-fiction author with a focus on working class writing, history, and dialect poetry.
- Educated with an MA in Public History from Ruskin College, Oxford, and a PhD on social housing estate history through poetry (UEL, 2018).
Her research explores intersections between history and poetry, emphasizing working class poetics, family/public history, and prisoners’ creative writing. Her work includes Webber Street and The Night Library, which examine social housing, libraries, and community voices.
Anna’s recent publications and PhD highlight her focus on dialect poetry, working class women’s narratives, and creative editing. She collaborates with Pen to Print for Barking and Dagenham Library Service and contributes to widening access programs.
- Awards: Hawthornden Fellow; shortlisted for Seamus Heaney Prize; Poetry Book Society Pamphlet Choice.
