Dr Hargreaves' research centers on exploring health condition experiences, carer roles, and informational support needs, with particular emphasis on digital health interventions. Her work spans mesothelioma palliative care, dementia caregiving, breast cancer/MND online communities, and assistive technology for elderly populations. She investigates how technology can facilitate empathy in health forums and support lifestyle monitoring for chronic conditions like heart failure.
Analysis of her 2022-2024 publications reveals a concentrated focus on mesothelioma, with recurring themes in palliative care resource development, mental health impacts, and information trust formation among carers. Her work bridges clinical practice and digital innovation, particularly examining how online platforms can address unmet support needs while navigating ethical challenges in sensitive health contexts.
Dr Hargreaves secured PhD funding from Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and currently contributes to the Mesothelioma UK Research Centre. While no formal student supervision is documented, her collaborative projects involve multidisciplinary teams across nursing, oncology, and digital health domains.
She actively participates in the Mesothelioma UK Research Centre and previously contributed to the Centre for Assistive Technology and Connected Healthcare, where she developed prototypes like MhealthAssist for older adults. Her current work focuses on implementing research-based palliative care resources while examining systemic challenges in mesothelioma care pathways.
