Sarah Gilmartin is a Lecturer in Law at Lancaster University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), within the Law School. Her research focuses on Inheritance Law, particularly addressing modern challenges like digital property inheritance and evolving family structures. She teaches courses on Torts and Inheritance Law (Wills & Succession).
Her doctoral thesis, completed in 2024, examines the historical evolution of inheritance law through the lens of bloodline justice theory, analyzing economic, moral, and social influences on legal frameworks over the past two centuries. This work proposes reforms to align 19th- and 20th-century laws with 21st-century realities.
