Dr. Lena Podoletz is a Lecturer in the Law School at Lancaster University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). She is part of the Security and Protection Science Initiative and serves as Pathway Representative for AHRC NWCDTP Law Pathway and ESRC NWSSDTP Socio-Legal Studies Pathway. Her research focuses on criminology, Science and Technology Studies (STS), and the intersection of crime, security, and technology, particularly AI/ML applications in policing and social security. She teaches modules including Cybercrime, Criminological Thought, and 21st-Century Criminal Justice.

- Automated affect recognition in policing
- Smart home technologies and evidence procedures
- Extended reality in police training vulnerabilities
- Algorithmic bias and transparency via CyCAT (EU Horizon 2020)
