Dr Sarah Corrigan is a Lecturer in Classics at the University of Melbourne. Previously, she held a postdoctoral position at the University of Galway as an Irish Research Council Laureate Fellow (2018–2023), focusing on biblical exegesis in early medieval Brittany. Her PhD research (University of Galway, supervised by Prof. Michael Clarke) investigated conceptualizations of the sea in early medieval Hiberno-Latin and latinate literature, exploring its role as both a cosmological problem and imaginative resource.
Research Focus
Dr Corrigan specializes in the Latin tradition of early medieval Ireland and Brittany, with particular attention to maritime themes, textual exegesis, and the intersection of insular geography with literary imagination. Her work bridges classical and Celtic studies, emphasizing the unique perspectives of Ireland’s peripheral location in the medieval world.
