Dr. Sara Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health at Swansea University, serving as Programme Director for the BSc Health and Social Care and Academic Employability Lead for the School of Health and Social Care. She teaches on the MSc/PGDip Public Health and Health Promotion programmes. With 15+ years’ experience as a nurse and health visitor, her expertise spans nursing, public health, maternal and child health, and childhood obesity. She co-hosts the Health and Social Care Heroes podcast and conducts research at the Centre for Lactation and Infant Feeding Translational Research (LIFT). Her work focuses on improving services for women and children, including infant feeding in emergencies (IYCF-E) and collaborations with community organizations.

Research Interests: Maternal and child health, infant feeding practices, childhood obesity, social determinants of health, and employability in healthcare. She employs mixed-methods approaches including qualitative research, community science, and systematic reviews.
Grants and Projects: Includes £149k MRC funding for infant formula accessibility research and collaborations on breastfeeding support interventions. Recent projects include a £5k fitness app for reproductive health and evaluations of infant feeding programs.
Awards: 2024 Excellence in Learning & Teaching Award for innovative, inclusive teaching. Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Other Roles: Volunteered with Nurture Project International in Greece (2016), Co-developer of the Health and Social Care Heroes podcast, and qualified yoga teacher.
