معرفی
Dr. Laura Galante is a Lecturer in infant and child public health at Swansea University's School of Health and Social Care, serving as deputy academic leader for Year 3 and 4 of the GEM program. She holds a PhD in biomedical science from the Liggins Institute, University of Auckland (2020), followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in evolutionary biology at the University of Turku, Finland (2020–2022), where she expanded her research on maternal investment in lactation across species.
Her research focuses on the eco-evolutionary significance of maternal resource allocation, particularly in lactation, influenced by environmental and maternal factors. Key areas include breast milk composition's hormonal and metabolic profiles, sex-specific nutritional programming, and maternal-infant interactions in both humans and Asian elephants.
Dr. Galante teaches on the BSc Health and Social Care program and MSc/PGDip Public Health courses. She actively collaborates globally through the Society for Research in Human Milk and Lactation (ISRHML), contributing to projects analyzing human and elephant lactation dynamics. Her recent work links environmental factors (e.g., green spaces) to milk composition and breastfeeding practices, with studies on glucocorticoids in preterm milk and odor-active compounds influencing infant feeding.
Her publications span 2016–2025, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches in public health, evolutionary biology, and clinical lactation science.
