Dr. Jessica Appleton is a Lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is a registered nurse with expertise in child and family health, maternal mental health, and implementation science. Her research focuses on obesity prevention in early childhood, infant feeding practices, and healthcare service evaluation. She holds an honorary lecturer position at the University of Sydney and is affiliated with the EPOCH-Translate CRE research center.
Her academic background includes a PhD investigating infant formula feeding and rapid weight gain, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship exploring health promotion interventions in early childhood services. She currently coordinates the EPOCH-Connect Community of Practice, supporting interdisciplinary collaboration in child health research.
Teaching responsibilities include courses like Health and Society, Healthcare Communication, and Specialty Clinical Practice. She supervises research projects such as Child Sleep Problems and Maternal Depression: A Comparison of Postpartum and Non-Postpartum Australian Mothers.
