Dr Clare Patton is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Leeds since 2023, part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Previously, she held roles at Queen’s University Belfast, including Lecturer in Law (2021–2023), Lecturer (Education) (2019–2021), and ESRC Research Fellow (2018–2019). Her PhD (2018, Queen’s University Belfast) underpins her academic foundation.
Her research focuses on transnational corporations' influence on health, particularly maternal and child health, and the Commercial Milk Formula (CMF) industry’s impact on infant and young child feeding (IYCF). She advises the WHO on human rights frameworks for IYCF and co-leads a multidisciplinary project with TU Dublin, funded by the Government of Ireland’s North-South Research Programme, to develop an emergency preparedness plan for infant food security on the island of Ireland (2024 launch).
Teaching responsibilities include International Corporate Governance, Company Law, and Trusts. She has also taught Torts, Business & Human Rights, and EU Law, alongside designing skills development programs like the 'Global Skills' project at Queen’s University Belfast.
Her scholarly work includes forthcoming articles on human rights frameworks in IYCF. Awards include the 2022 North-South Research Programme grant. She oversees PhD supervision opportunities in areas aligning with her research expertise.
