Sara Christou is a Doctoral Researcher at Loughborough University, affiliated with the Harnessing Opportunities for Meaningful Environments (HOME) Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT). Her research focuses on rethinking concepts of home and homelessness through transdisciplinary, creative methods. She holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Forced Migration from the University of Oxford’s Refugee Studies Centre, and a BA and MA (Hons) in Theology and Religious Studies from the University of Cambridge.

Her research interests intersect Forced Migration, Homelessness, and Gender Equity, with a focus on applying creative methodologies to address social issues. She hosts The Meaning of Home Podcast, exploring these themes through dialogues with experts. Sara’s doctoral studies are supported by a fully-funded Studentship.
Previously, she worked in the charity sector for over a decade, specializing in international development and gender equity, and served as Director of Think Aloud Consulting, advising non-profits on fundraising.
As part of the HOME CDT, she collaborates with a cohort of seven researchers to innovate solutions around housing and displacement. Her work bridges academic research with practical, creative interventions.
