Samuel T. Brandao is a Clinical Associate Professor of Law at Tulane University, directing the Civil Rights & Federal Practice Clinic since February 2024. He joined Tulane’s faculty in 2016 after a career spanning civil rights litigation, judicial clerkships, and public interest advocacy.

His research explores intersections between civil rights law and artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, neuroscience, and end-of-life medical care. With a supervisory docket focused on police violence and discrimination cases, his work bridges traditional civil rights advocacy with modern technological and biomedical challenges.

Brandao previously clerked for U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon and Judge Jacques L. Wiener, Jr., followed by a two-year Skadden Fellowship at Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. He also served as a staff attorney litigating housing discrimination cases and worked as a musician and former high school English teacher.
