Ejaz Baluch Jr. is a Lecturer in Law at Columbia University and a Senior Trial Attorney in the Employment Litigation Section of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division since October 2019. He represents the United States in federal district court cases under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, focusing on employment discrimination based on race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity. At the Department of Justice, he has also served as a National Advocacy Center faculty member and completed a detail as an Advisor with the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders, addressing Anti-Asian hate and promoting data disaggregation for AA and NHPI subgroups.
Research Interests: Ejaz’s work centers on civil rights litigation, employment discrimination, and the intersection of law with social justice. His practice extends to appellate advocacy, public interest law, and legal education, particularly in training programs for federal litigation.

Ejaz has clerked for Chief Judge George L. Russell, III of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and previously taught middle school social studies with Baltimore City Public Schools.
