Samuel Kohlenberg is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychophysiology at Saybrook University within the College of Integrative Medicine and Health Science. He holds a PhD in Applied Psychophysiology from Saybrook University (2019) and an MEd in Education in the Health Professions from Johns Hopkins University (2022). Currently, he is pursuing a second doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Denver (expected 2024). His academic roles include adjunct positions at Johns Hopkins University and Naropa University.
Dr. Kohlenberg’s research focuses on psychophysiological interventions, including biofeedback, mindfulness, and hypnosis. He explores their applications in clinical mental health, stress management, and integrative medicine. His work emphasizes lifestyle medicine integration and the mitigation of dyspnea during therapeutic breathing techniques.
His publications span peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, addressing topics such as hypnosis training efficacy, heart rate variability biofeedback accuracy, and the role of lifestyle factors in mental health. He is a Fellow of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback and a Diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
Dr. Kohlenberg’s professional memberships include the American Psychological Association and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He is a licensed professional counselor in Colorado and holds certifications in biofeedback and heart rate variability.
