Eric Willmarth is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Applied Psychophysiology at Saybrook University, where he also coordinates the Integrative Mental Health Specialization and field placements in the College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences. With over 30 years as a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in chronic pain management, he is certified in Biofeedback, Clinical Hypnosis, and Pain Management. He currently serves as President of the Michigan Society for Clinical Hypnosis and has held leadership roles in major hypnosis organizations, including the Society for Psychological Hypnosis (APA Div. 30) and the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis. His work bridges clinical practice and research, with a focus on hypnosis's applications in healthcare and mental health.
Willmarth’s academic journey began in music before transitioning to psychology. He maintains a strong interest in the psychological and health benefits of music, participating in his church choir. His professional memberships include the Association of Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, reflecting his commitment to interdisciplinary approaches in medicine. Notably, he leads The Willmarth Hypnosis Interviews, a project documenting insights from leading hypnosis researchers and clinicians, preserving their expertise for future generations.
