Professor Sameh Saad is a Chair in Enterprise Modelling and Management at the Department of Engineering and Mathematics, Sheffield Hallam University. He holds a BSc (Honours) in Production Engineering, MSc in Industrial Engineering, and PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Nottingham. His research focuses on manufacturing systems, supply chain optimization, and Industry 4.0 integration. He has authored over 130 publications and four patents, with notable awards including the Emerald Award of Excellence (1998, 2005) and an outstanding EPSRC grant. His work emphasizes sustainability, lean manufacturing, and digital transformation.
Teaching roles include courses across MEng Aerospace Engineering, MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and BEng Hon Manufacturing Engineering. He leads high-profile research collaborations with BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, and others, fostering academic links globally. His recent work explores blockchain in humanitarian supply chains and Industry 4.0 applications in SMEs.
Research interests span fractal manufacturing systems, reconfigurable supply networks, and ERP systems. He has supervised numerous PhD students and serves on editorial boards of prestigious journals.
