Prof Ming Lim is currently a Professor of Supply Chain Management and Digitalisation at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. Previously, he served as Dean of the College of Mechanical Engineering and Distinguished Professor at Chongqing University (China), and Co-cluster Lead/Professor at Coventry University. He holds a PhD in Manufacturing Systems from the University of Exeter and a BEng (Hons) in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Liverpool. His career includes roles as a post-doctoral researcher, business improvement manager, and academic leadership positions, such as Head of the Centre for Supply Chain Improvement at the University of Derby.
Prof Lim's research focuses on technology-driven logistics (RFID, IoT, Industry 4.0), sustainable supply chain management (circular economy, low carbon initiatives), and lean/agile principles. He has secured over £1.4 million in research funding from bodies like EU FP7, UKRI EPSRC, and InnovateUK. Notable projects include EU-funded grants 'CITADEL on the move' and 'AdvIOT', and collaborations with DHL, NHS, Rolls-Royce, and Toyota.
He leads the Services and Operations Management research cluster and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Logistics Research and Applications. With over 250 publications, his work spans journals like Omega, Transportation Research, and Production Planning and Control. Current research emphasizes AI-driven logistics, energy systems optimization, and sustainable practices in global supply networks.
Prof Lim's advisory and grants include leading teams on supply chain competitiveness, technology implementation, and industrial partnerships. His research has generated over £1.4 million in revenue through industry-funded projects and grants. He actively collaborates with institutions like the University of Oxford and has established research centers to drive innovation in supply chain resilience and digital transformation.
