Sam Fagaly is Professor of Saxophone and Director of Jazz Studies at Eastern Illinois University, conducting the EIU Jazz Ensemble while teaching Jazz Theory, History, and Band Techniques. Under his leadership, the ensemble has performed at IAJE and IMEA conferences with artists including Joe Williams, Snooky Young, and Bobby Shew, and released albums such as '61920'.

His saxophone students have been accepted to elite graduate programs including Juilliard, Eastman, and Northwestern. The EIU Jazz Ensemble's discography and collaborations with legends like J.J. Johnson and Sarah Vaughan highlight his impact on jazz education and performance.
